School of Nursing-Join us!

This trip will combine an opportunity to study and serve abroad as part of the School of Nursing. This clinical immersion elective includes a focus on global healthcare nursing and medical missions to El Salvador. Students will be able to identify alternate views about behaviors related to health and illness based upon cultural differences. Students will also be able to observe how the profession of nursing is different in a global perspective. Students will examine the host countries cultural beliefs, values, customs, spirituality and health promotion practices by integrating information learned in the classroom to a global healthcare setting. The mission goal is to bring the good news of Jesus Christ to the community of El Salvador.

Program Reviews:
Tori C Meyers, Spring Break 2014 Participant
This trip expanded community nursing globally. I was extremely impacted by the warm culture who accepted us eagerly. We were able to provide both physical and spiritual care to the people of El Salvador.

Spring Break 2014 Participant
This organization was run by people who not only lived to serve the Lord in truth but also in action through nursing. The passion I experienced and the hand of God on this trip was incredible.

Mary Elizabeth Mills, Spring Break 2014 Participant
The experience was incredible. I went into this trip thinking that I was capable of providing medically for the people of El Salvador. I came away from the trip believing that what they needed most was spiritual security before they ever wanted physical healthcare. It reaffirmed that God is the only one that can fill the void in our lives, and because of that, His name should be praised daily. I fell in love with the culture and the people and have such a desire in my heart to return.

Testimonial:
School of Nursing El Salvador 2014

What a special blessing God bestowed on me.
This mission we were able to spread God's message through our food, faith and nursing knowledge .
Love was the universal language whether we were praying with families, coloring bible stories with the children,  holding the hands of dying people or letting a mother hear her son's fetal heart beat for the first time. Our teaching was multifaceted when we were on the mountain. We learned by discussing different religious customs, using balloons to assess children's lungs, or discussing environmental issues through the eyes of Florence Nightingale the founder  of Nursing . To God Be the Glory.
