School of Nursing-Join us!
This trip will combine an opportunity to study and serve abroad as part of the School of Nursing. This clinical immersion elective includes a focus on global healthcare nursing and medical missions to El Salvador. Students will be able to identify alternate views about behaviors related to health and illness based upon cultural differences. Students will also be able to observe how the profession of nursing is different in a global perspective. Students will examine the host countries cultural beliefs, values, customs, spirituality and health promotion practices by integrating information learned in the classroom to a global healthcare setting. The mission goal is to bring the good news of Jesus Christ to the community of El Salvador.

This missions trip was a great experience overall. I have already been raving to other students and people about how amazing this trip was. Our group was not only a blessing for the people there but the people of El Salvador and the master students there, but they brought so much joy to our lives and really were a great blessing towards us. I would definitely go on this trip again!

From the very beginning to the last moments of this trip one could feel God’s presence with us. We went as student nurses to assess a community for physical problems but we also had the chance to assess their spiritual needs. We witnessed miracles, experienced transformation, and fell in love with the people of El Salvador. I would recommend this trip because you will grow closer to God and allow him to work through you to reach the beautiful people of El Salvador. You really see the true mission that God has called us to do in all nations.

The experience was incredible. I went into this trip thinking that I was capable of providing medically for the people of El Salvador. I came away from the trip believing that what they needed most was spiritual security before they ever wanted physical healthcare. It reaffirmed that God is the only one that can fill the void in our lives, and because of that, His name should be praised daily. I fell in love with the culture and the people and have such a desire in my heart to return.

For my spring break this year I chose to go on the school of nursing's missions trip to Santa Ana, El Salvador. We were hosted by an organization called King's Castle, where they train ministry students to become missionaries. Each morning (bright and early) we loaded food and medical supplies on the bus and traveled out to different communities in need. Once at the sites, we split up into groups and went into the communities and from home to home, assessing the families for health concerns and ways in which we could pray for them. The people who had more serious conditions were given a slip to be able to come to the clinic that we set up in their local church where they could have a consult with an El Salvadorian doctor and recieve proper medical care and medicine.

While being on this trip, I finally learned about the importance of being 100% for God with every part of your life. God showed me that He wants to use each aspect of our lives for His Kingdom. He doesn’t want us to live lukewarm Christian lives. God opened my eyes to what truly serving Him looks like, and He has changed my life because of it.
